Tarmac driveways, pathways and patios
All our
work is guaranteed whether it's a small patio or a major
forecourt , with no job too big or too small.
We will
visit you on-site visit to discuss your requirements and
provide you with a written quotation. Although there are
only three basic block laying patterns - Stretcher Bound*,
Herringbone* and Basket Weave*, the random or uniform use of
different block sizes within these patterns open up the
design options. Their creative use can form patterns which
can achieve different effects, each one unique to its own
setting. We are happy to discuss with you and advise you on
theses options.
Our
schedule of work is clearly set out with no hidden extras,
so the price you are quoted will cover the total cost of the
job. We will also give you an estimate of how long the work
will take to complete. If you decide to go ahead, we will
liaise closely with you at all stages of the process to
ensure that you are completely satisfied with the end
product. |
Block Paving
When you decide to use block paving, there
is more involved in the design of your
finished product than the colour and where
you'd like to use block paving. When you
choose C.A. Mills Driveways, we will help
you with your design as much as possible.
However to help you with your own ideas, the
main elements you should consider are:
-
Thickness
The purpose of the paving will determine
what thickness you will need.
-
Texture & Type
Our two main finishes on block paving
are smooth or rumbled. It is down to
personal preference which finish look
you use. You can also choose between
permeable and semi-porous paving blocks,
in both smooth or rumbled textures.
-
Colour
Choose of a wide variety of colours to
complement or contrast with your
property for maximum effect!
-
Laying Pattern*
There are a variety of patterns that can
be created depending on if you choose to
use standard rectangular blocks or
multi-sized pavers.
-
Accessories
Did you know that we also supply a wide
variety of accessories to complement our
paving? There are of course kerbs and
edging blocks, but also consider
lighting.
-
Combinations
Have you considered combining different
products to create a unique effect?
* Examples of Laying Patterns:
Stretcher Bond
- a classic look that is ideal for patios
and terraces.
Herringbone - recommended for drives and
other large hard-standing areas.
Basketweave - easy to lay and something
different to standard designs.

Tarmac
Installed correctly, Tarmac is renowned for its versatility,
durability and longevity, and is suitable for both driveways
and forecourts. Available in both
BLACK
or
RED,
the installation process is as follows:
-
Area
to be excavated to approximately 150 – 200mm and all
debris to be removed from site.
-
The
excavated area to be compacted, digging out any soft
spots and filling them with new sub-base material.
-
A
Permeable Geotext Membrane will be placed over the
excavated area, and backfilled with MOT (Ministry of
Transport) Type 1 Roadstone, and mechanically compacted
to the correct levels.
-
A
Base Course of Tarmac with an aggregate size of
approximately 20mm will be compacted on top of the MOT
Type 1, followed by a wearing course of Tarmac which
contains smaller aggregates and is intended to give a
finer, smoother finish. This will all be mechanically
rolled to the correct levels and falls. All Tarmac will
be delivered in insulated lorries to ensure the correct
temperature is maintained whilst in transit.
-
It
may be necessary to install an edge restraint such as a
soldier course of block paving to the entire outer
perimeter, restraining the newly laid tarmac.
